My goal for 2007 was to read 100 books, but I didn't quite make it. Listed are the books I did read, with those I've read previously noted with an *.
Spammy book list. )
Anyway, Happy New Year!

I'm wasting so much time right now. But how can you _not_ like stomping the monks? At least, they look like monks to me.

I've always read quite a bit, so this year I decided to keep a list of what I read. There are books that I've read many times, new books by authors I've liked for a while, new books by new authors I've just 'discovered', young adult books that looked interesting, and some I just happened across that I thought looked interesting. A few were a chore to get through, and while I enjoyed most, there were a few that ended on an oddly jarring note that I didn't much care for.
And a cut, because it's kind of long. )

I actually stopped to think about this one. It's unusually insightful for a cookie fortune. On course, I have a profound love of books and there many of them in my house. Also, I've lived in an apartment that had no windows in the front room, so I can appreciate the comparison between the darkness of a mind not exposed constantly to books (no matter what the subject matter)to the darkness of a room without windows. Anyway, I'm going to actually watch TV now. :) A new series called 'Heroes' started and it's kind of interesting.

'A house without books is like a room without windows.'

A little bathtime dialog:

The husband is giving Gwen her bath. Gwen passes gas. Loudly.

Husband: "Ahhh! Gwwwweeenn! That's gross!"

Gwen: "That's not gross. My butt sneezed."

Ok, I thought this was just fun. :) From the Vampire Name Generator:

about me. Found paging through one of my husband's old 'The Duelist' magazines. April 1997 actually. Scary.

I thought this article was interesting.

I thought it ironic that many people are anonymous on the internet to -avoid- stalkers, but could be facing jail time and/or a fine for being 'annoying'.

I guess I should just let everyone know who I am since I'm annoying on a fairly regular basis. :)

Somehow I doubt it'll stand up to scrutiny.

At least, one would hope.

I loved this quote, although it wasn't seriously meant in the context of the article.

"...........we need to put outlaw culture back into tattooing. So if you’ve got a tattoo, make sure you kick someone’s ass at least once a week — preferably while you’re rip-roarin’ drunk — and do at least a little prison time."

This is one of the worst ideas for 'education' that I've heard in a while. Even worse than the 'Ebonics' craze. Schools need to raise expectations, not dumb down the material to make it more 'accessible.'.

Anyway, enjoy!

The article. )
